Band Bio
Kent, Nate, and Jon first played together back in December of 2000 in order to create a crappy holiday soundtrack for their sophomore German class. Once that initial project was done, the boys began experimenting with original material. When spring rolled around, they recruited Dave Pieper to play keyboards on some of the original material, and soon thereafter they enlisted Chad Bergeron to sing for the band.
They spent some time working on original material, and played their first gig at Mukwonapalooza 2002. They recorded their originals at Kent's house and then battled through their senior year. During that year, they went into Walls Have Ears studio in Milwaukee to get a better demo cd made. Shortly into the project, Chad left the band, and Dave was left singing the vocal tracks. The guys recruited Jeremy Brookins to take over vocals, and they recorded and played gigs in the summer of 2003. Effigy had found its sound at this time. With Jeremy singing tenor parts supported by Dave's lower voice, and the excellent blend of the drums and bass with the guitar and keyboards, Effigy's sound had matured into excellence.
The band took time off as everybody headed off for the first year of college. They rerecorded vocal parts during winter break, adding harmonies and changing melodies for the better. This recording displayed an even stronger sound from the band.
Once the summer of 2004 rolled in, the band started playing gigs again. Not too long into the summer, however, Jeremy quit the band and Effigy once again lacked lead vocals. For the rest of the summer, the band worked on instrumental parts to originals, and then discussed finding a new singer and headed back to college.
Right before the winter break of their sophomore college year, Ryan Boneck responded to one of Kent's online ads for a new singer. He came over and practiced covers with the band, and Effigy was amazed. Ryan was one of the best singers any of the boys had ever come across, and they gladly welcomed him into the band, and then returned to school.
Now the band members do their best to balance school, work, and band activity. Progress is slow at times, but things will pick up soon...
